As for McCain, Condi would be a bad choice because she hasn't exactly impressed anyone with her performance. He just might be enough of a maverick to pick Lieberman, but Lieb's views on most issues (e.g. abortion) are mainstream liberal, so the GOP base would be furious. And it's not like Mac is soft on security as it is. Obama will pick some boring white guy you've never heard of, and McCain will also pick some boring white guy you've never heard of. Reading one of John Updike's novels (The Centaur) made me realize how much I hated my high-school teacher for making me read it. It actually is impressive what the NYCTA has done with air-conditioning subway cars (and now even a few platforms). Back in the 1970s and 1980s, chances were about 50-50 that the car you got into would have a/c, and in most cases it was about as fierce as John McCain reading off a Teleprompter. There were even some cars on the C that didn't have a/c at all, just little fans in the corners of the cars. Why would Gore accept a demotion?
